Kanji
Kanji is the word used to describe Japanese writing. Over the years, the style of Kanji has changed and you are more likely to see the modern day version being used. Rather than Kanji spelling out the words as we do in the English language, it is a means of representing the meaning behind the word or, to put it another way, a picture which contains the meaning of the word. The modern day Kanji for the word Reiki (shown below) does not contain as much meaning as the older Kanji representation of the same word. Because of this, I personally prefer to use the old version of the Reiki Kanji.
